The municipality of Sliven celebrates 10 years since the opening of the Tuida Fortress - restored, preserved and renovated. All the events organized in the current year 2024 are dedicated to the anniversary, and the culmination will be during the eighth edition of the Medieval Assembly "Remember the Glory", which is part of the program for the Feast of the City of Sliven - Dimitrov Day.
The team of animators and tour guides of Tuida Fortress with fluttering hearts, high spirits and overflowing with joy, invite you to be part of the VIII Medieval Assembly "Remember the Glory - Tuida 2024" from 04 to 06 October 2024. Days in which different eras will meet at the crossroads; past and present will dance in harmony, enticing everyone to enjoy their wonders. Get into the holiday spirit with a medieval twist! Welcome to Sliven - experience the history, feel the nature in the ancient city under the Blue Stones!
During the assembly, groups with participants from all over the country and abroad will recreate the life and military work of the societies that inhabited the fortification in the period from Late Antiquity to the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Visitors will be able to get an idea of ​​the life, traditions, culture, customs, military work and even the games of our ancestors. Gladiatorial battles, clashes of heavily armed armies, skilled archers, handicrafts, slave market, delicious feasts, trekking yurts and tents, clothing and much more will fill the festival days.
Attendees can look forward to a range of experiences. The three-day event kicks off on October 4th at 7pm with spectacular stage performances. The current edition of the Medieval Council "Remember the Glory" will offer visitors a new and fascinating program.
At the very beginning, the participants in the assembly will be introduced, and their number is impressive. Over 200 re-enactors will bring history to life on Tuida's Festival Days. The stage program continues with a performance by the group "Freija", they will take care not only of the good mood, but also introduce the audience to music through the ages. After them, the fascinating DJ Monitta will take the stage, who will interweave the modern sound of electronic music and chilling folk motifs against the background of a spectacular laser show. An invariable part of "Remember the Glory" every year are also the artists from the "PALYACHI" fire and light show, and this year the tradition will be followed and the Palyachi will be part of the Tuida stage.
The next day, the event will take us back to Antiquity and the Middle Ages. And this day will offer the audience new experiences and memorable moments. Various demonstrations and audience interactions will be organized in all the camps. Join the brave wars for a day full of adventure.
Amidst the echo of hooves, the clatter of swords and the squeal of bowstrings, explore the realm of respected artisans. Each stall is a treasure trove of the past and offers goods and crafts that will dazzle your senses: blacksmithing, weaving, wool felting, jewellery, leather goods and finely crafted weapons will whisper tales of antiquity for the brave of heart.
What holiday is complete without the pleasures of the table? Indulge in an abundance of culinary delights that will satisfy even the most regal appetite. Enjoy the legendary taste of sweet mead in the medieval pub and dance to music coming down through the ages.
